Pandemic Ka Lang, I am Filipino!

Nightmare. One word that best describe year 2020 for us. Forest fire, bombing, volcanic eruption, world war three threats, super typhoons, and  lastly the one that last the most, a pandemic cause by the the Coronavirus which we commonly know as Covid-19. A virus that kept all of us from the outside world for how many months and counting. A virus that infected and killed countless number of people from different nation. A virus that we will  never forget. As we are still facing this pandemic let us remember that we are Filipinos, and we always look on the bright side of things.

Due to the virus, a lockdown was implemented that makes us birds trapped on their own cage. However as we look on the bright side of it, a home that was never complete because a mother/father goes to work, and children go to school was once again complete. The lockdown makes a home complete again. Families were able to bond with each other creating an unbreakable bond. We are able to do things that we have not done before. We are able to know our family members more and we are able to know ourselves more. We are able to discover new hobbies, new routines, new favorite food or games etc. Things that will change the way we live even when the lockdown is over.

Furthermore, due to the virus our mother nature started to heal again. There were no litters on the streets because there are no people that litters the surroundings. Deforestation stopped and trees started to grow again. Wildlife started to grow again. Pollution was lessened and the skies became clearer again. Slowly the nature has regained it's beauty again.

However as we look on the bright side we should still remember that we need to prevent and stop the virus. We Filipino youths can also contribute on stopping the virus by starting to follow the protocols. Let us not be stubborn and don't go outside just to have fun. If going out is a must we should always practice using face mask and social distancing. With this small acts we are already contributing to our society by decreasing  the risk of the spread of the virus. As youths  we can use social platforms to raise awareness about the proper health protocols and updates about the virus such as using blogs, posting and etc.

Let us always look on the bright side, and together we stand as Filipino. We will not be swallowed by the darkness that the virus hold for us for we will be the light that will swallow the dark. I am a Filipino, you are a Filipino. we can say to ourselves, "Pandemic ka lang, I am a Filipino." We are Filipino and we shall shine as one.
